fuse problems
I was taking a trip with my 2005 Grand Caravan with the power converter plugged into the front plug which blew. When it blew it blew the radio, clock and the plug. I replaced the fuse but no change and it blew the fuse right away. I read up on this site about restting it by changing the accessory relay and fuse number 8 but that didn't work either. Now my front blower has gone. I tried replacing fuses and the relay but no changes. It still doesn't work. Does anyone have any idea what is happening to my van?
Wiring diagram is showing a front floor console outlet and a front cigar lighter outlet. Which one is the problem outlet? Try disconnecting the radio. How soon after this happened did the front blower die?

Try checking the blower motor resistor pack. It's located behing the glove box, drop down the glove box and the plug you see is the blower motor resistor. The is a fuse in that pack that can't be changed you can try to test the fuse with a meter but you'll just have to replace the pack. Should run about $20 at AutoZone/AdvanceAutoParts
In any system when you start having shorts and blowing fuses many things can happen and things get blown that don't seem to be connected but are in some fashion or another......just my two cents!!!!

Had the school tech class take a look at it. They got the radio working temporarily by putting in a 30 amp fuse instead of the 20 amp. I know this doesn't solve the problem and that there must be a short somewhere that is causing it but for the winter I will use it. The front blower relay tested okay but the fuse was getting no power. So they told me I need to repair or replace the fuse box.

If it were me, I personally would not be running it with the 30amp fuse installed. That is just me though. I can say that in my auto electrical class, the vehicle would not have left the lab with the 30 amp fuse installed.
Hope it holds up for ya until you can get in and get things fixed up. Keep us posted if anything changes.
Cheers.

The blower motor fuse is supplied by a relay. They will have to check and see if the relay has power or not

the radio and the cigar lighter are both supplied by the same fuse

I would also say shame on them for running a larger fuse, nothing but trouble comes from that.

30 amp fuse. Bad, bad idea. You are allowing 50% more power through that circuit than designed. You'll have to weigh the importance of listening to a radio and potentially barbequing your van. In the mean time pack a fire extinguisher and make sure your auto and life insurance are paid up. You are treading on dangerous ground.
Disconnect the battery then disconnect the IPM connectors and inspect for contact damage. Looks good? Remove the IPM and disassemble. If you see heat damage on the circuit board you'll need a new IPM.

Seriously though, his recommendations of fire extinguisher and all are spot on. When wires go up they like to burn A LOT.
Shame on them for sending you home like that!
