Replace Rear Calipers 2008 Grand Garavan
I did post this question in another thread:
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/dodge-c...r-caliper.html
I thought to post a new thread as the issue for the original poster was resolved.
I would appreciate any assistance/advice on how to replace the rear calipers on a 2008 GC.
The link above has a picture that is the same as my 08.
the challenge seems to be removing the e-brake.
I Have a 13mm Slot wrench...which I understand is used to some how compress the three (there seems to be more) fingers. Does this in fact release the e-brake from it's housing?
I am stuck at trying to remove the e-brake, but any and all advice on how to successfuly replace teh rear calipers would be appreciated! Thanks,

to remove the E-brake cable, for me, the easiest way is to get a BIG plier or side cutter and bend/deform the bracket(to the left of the Letter H in the picture) that holding your cable. I dont really care if I destroy it because I am replacing it anyway.
regarding how to install if, the parking brake cable is spring loaded, you just have to Hook up the eye on the the hook, and pull as hard as you can so the cable is long enough to be installed onto the bracket. There is really no trick to do this other than sheer brute force. it is usually easier if you have someone to help you hold the cable while you pull.

Ok thanks. I guess my fear of that is that what if I can't pull it far enough? So when I am trying to pull off the cable, its impossible to do so without doing exactly what you say. All I need to know is that I will have just enough play to install the new caliper after I attach to the new caliper. Do I hook the e-brake onto the new caliper and then pull and reconnect while pulling ?
which ever way is easier for you. It is easier to try the other way is it doesnt work. to me it is easier to hook up the eye first, but i've seen some ppl attach the bracket first too. Regardless, yes, there will be enought rooms, how you think they hook it up from the factory? you just have to pull the cable as hard as you can.
I'm not familiar with the Caravan but did you try to disconnect the cable from the e-brake peddle inside the van? I would imagine that would loosen up the cable enough to get it around that loop.
Thanks steak59!!
Dsolorio...interesting idea, but if I disconnect the cable from the e-brake cable inside the van, aren't I just trading off one difficult job for another?
The tension is going to be the same regardless of where I remove it. It could be easier the way you describe though. Thanks!

Could be. I'm just thinking in my Durango, my brake cable just has a small notch in it almost like a bicycle brake that would seem to be much easier to take off and put back in compared to the opposing end in the photo. Again, I don't even own a caravan. I just thought I would throw out some ideas.

Why r u replacing the caliper anyway? just wondering. and r u replacing both?
I have about 140km on the vehicle already...
The passenger rear has very uneven pad wear and is actually rubbing on the rotor while driving off and on on the one pad
