Default 2011 caravan front brakes on 2 to 3 weeks back order

Does anyone know what dodge is doing for this brake issue? Upgrade rotor or same thing getting installed?? The dealer told me it should be covered ? they want to have a inspection before they order the parts??? Should i just go get aftermarket brakes or let the dealer install the same ones ??

Not sure about the details, but if they're willing to do the labor and parts for free, even if you only get a year out of them again it's worth it. Put aftermarket on once it stops being a warranty issue.

they are $100 deductible pads and new Rotors for front, extended waranty is 3yr-36k miles.
Believe it or no, aftermarket pads are no better than the factory one. I believe this is a design problem. The brake pads are just too small for the size of the vehicle. Just look at them, the pads are smaller than the one used in Charger. yet the vehicle is a lot bigger.

Maybe, probably would just need to make sure the wheels would clear bigger calipers.

I have a 2011 GC and know that the 08 - 10 had premature brake wear. I asked my sales guy and he said that it had been fixed but I should get my brake serviced every year just to make sure the brake aren't sticking.

Is there another brake issue that I should be aware of.

I also see that Steak59 said front brakes have a 3 year warantee, I was told it was only one year.

Thanks.

I try to make this easy for everyone, You need to replace the brake parts thats on the extented warranty. You can not use aftermarket parts at all. Warranty on brakes are 12 months or 12k, But with the extented warranty from 12k to 24k your deductable will 50.00 dollars and from 24k to 36k it will be 100.00 dollars. But you need to have the campaign part numbers on the the vehicle. I hope this helps, and i will post the TSB too.

Thanks MasterTech.

Just to be clear. Is this extended warantee something that you had to purchase or given free by Chrysler?

Also, I believe my van was manufactured in July 2011 so it would not be covered as it shouldn't have this issue? Where do I find the brake sales code BRE and/or
BRG?

Thanks again.

No, it will be on the function 14 or VIP sheet when you go into the dealer.

I went to the dealer the other day since my 2011 Grand Caravan is having issues with brakes as well. The punched the VIN number into the computer and since my van was built on the 24th of May it is not covered. I am having the same issues as others so they obviously have not corrected the problem with vans built after the cutoff date as they claim.
