Default Speed sensor rubbing

hey people new here, and hello, I have looked through some old post here but could not see one with my problem. Well here it is, I have changed the output sensor twice in the last year on a 2000 caravan 604 trans because it seems to be rubbing something on the inside and wearing the plastic away on the sensor. then become inoperable. then engine light then code you guys know the routine. But anyway why is this happing.

Well also tonight i put a gasket on the new sensor to hold it out a little bit to keep it from wearing. It still seams to run fine and shift fine and no codes after i done this. Any information on this would be great or just tell to that was a stupid idea, i'm ok with that Thanks

Hello and welcome to the forums missinformed!
Well i think you are on the right track about shimming the sensor but i can not tell you why it is happening or if the shimming will last. Maybe some others here might of had this happen. Good luck misinformed.

Welcome to DF

If the sensor is getting damage from the inside of the transmission, then the problem is inside the transmission. You can not shim output or input turbin sensors. You can adjust the air gap for camshaft and crankshaft sensors. I would recommend to tear the trans apart and inspect why the sensor is getting damage.

I'd say the rear planet assembly is worn to the point it moves enough off center to hit the turbine speed sensor.
