Default Head gasket replacement

Several weeks ago I posted "phantom oil leak" stating I could not find the oil leak. Since then after researching this forum and others, found this is a common problem with 1996 -98 2.4L engines due to faulty engineering of head gasket.
So yesterday had it replaced along with timing belt & plugs at a total cost of $900.00. Why spend the money on a 1998 Caravan? Bought it in April 2012 in Naples Fl. with only 29,000 miles and nearly perfect body & interior.
Looking forward to many miles of driving this icon.

Its better than making a car payment. Did you add engine dye to find the leak?

No, changed power steering fluid to Lukas brand which is red to eliminate power steering pump & lines and to this forum, the leak was coming from the left rear of the head. The leak was small (2/3 of qt. in 3200 miles).
