it broke down doing groceries, and when i start it and put it in gear it makes sounds like metal is being sprayed around internally with alot of grinding and knocking noises coming from the transmission, i checked the axles they seem fine, it needs the parking brake even if its in park, or else it rolls away. what does it sound like guys and gals? fluid levels are fine.

 

Sounds like the ring gear is busted. Definitely sounds fatal.

 

can 01-06 transmission directly bolt into my 2000?

 

The crankshaft sensor is not mounted the same as the 1996 thru 2000. There also some other changes that may not match up either. The 3.8 torque converter is not the same on the 3.3L engine and the pins for the TRS may not be the same either.
