yes, u need a EGR valve.

 

is that the only possible problem? the scanner also said 'a circuit high'. will replacing the egr valve fix that also?

 

Sensor is Inside the EGR valve, they are all molded together as 1 piece. And at this moment, there really isn't any diagnostic u can do, it will be eithe the EGR valve, a bad PCM. or bad wiring(very doubtful).
So, go ahead and pull the trigger on the EGR valve, they go bad A LOT.
