Default 97 Dodge tranny output sensor

Hi Everyone!

I have a 97 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3, 4sp auto, fw drive, 130,000 miles, and the tranny went into 'limp-mode', and came up with a 700, 733, and 734 DTC codes. I read about a possibe fix was to change the input/output sensors and changing the tranny oil. I took out the OUTPUT SENSOR and it is FULL of metal fragments, I took out the INPUT SENSOR and no metal on that sensor. I drained the oil and in the pan are some metal fragments, the magnet is FULL and there are some fragments in the pan. 1st Question is---- how much fragments is TOO much? 2nd Question---What about the metal fragments that are on the output sensor? i know i can clean them off, but what about inside the housing where the sensor goes?

You shouldn't have any metal fragments on any of the sensors. If you do, then you have an internal problem. P0733 and P0734 are Gear ratio errors in 3rd and 4th gears. Do you know what the CVI's readings are? That stands for Clutch Volume Index.
