We have a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan which we purchased used. The rear hatch will only open by the key. When the hatch button on the remote is pressed twice the lights blink but the hatch will not open. Also, is there a way to open the rear hatch from the drivers side (overhead console)? It seems that the remote is sending a signal (the rear lights blink) but only physically unlocking it with a key will work. Any suggestions?

Have van scan for an active rear power liftgate codes. It maybe just the latch assy.

 

Scanning for codes @ dealership? Also, i believe
this does not have power liftgate it only pops open when remote is used. Please advise.

If you have a button on the remote or on the upper console. Its a good chance you have a power liftgate. Two problems would cause the liftgate to open. The motor or the latch assy.

 

We have a console, but nothing that shows a hatch opener. We just have the button on the remote. Based on what you said in your last post, about how much would that run to fix at a dealership?

The rear liftgate on my 2006 Caravan just randomly opens. This has only occurred when parked so far, but when unnoticed it drains the battery dead. Any ideas why this happens. Could it be a bad remote sending a signal to open.

 

I have an 04 SXT. Just started having the same problem. I do not have power liftgate. Problem started a few weeks ago. Would only open with key. Last week when I hit unlock button on door when parked I heard electric lock from liftgate. Door was ajar. I have heard the electric lock sound several times while outside vehicle with liftgate open and closed. It activates the release and pops the door ajar. Now on several occasions it has drained battery overnight. Took handle switch apart and there was water between rubber and switch. I dried put back in and it works but expecting it to happen again. Any suggestions?
