The check engine light has been on for about a week(has been on 2x before and it was emissions stuff so I still drove it on vacation which was about 400 miles, tonight the temperature light went on and the guage was on hot. It was low on oil (about a month ago vavoline said it is not leaking oil but burning a quart about every 1500 miles) Tonight Advance Auto said it gave a code of p0480 cooling fan 1 control circuit malfunction. Wondering how much is this going to be to fix and how hard is it to fix, the van has 115,500 miles on it. Any help/ideas would be great!

 

Symptom:
P0480-COOLING FAN 1 CONTROL CIRCUIT
When Monitored and Set Condition:
P0480-COOLING FAN 1 CONTROL CIRCUIT
When Monitored: With the ignition on. Battery voltage greater than 10 volts.
Set Condition: An open or shorted circuit is detected in the radiator fan relay control
circuit system. One Trip Fault.

GROUND CIRCUIT
FUSED B+ OUTPUT CIRCUIT

RADIATOR FAN RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN (IPM)
RADIATOR FAN RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN (PCM)
RADIATOR FAN RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND (IPM)
RADIATOR FAN RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND (PCM)
INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (OPEN)
INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (SHORD)
TEST ACTION APPLICABILITY
1 Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIIIt, actuate the Radiator Fan Relay.
Are both Radiator Fan operating?
All
Yes ! Go To 2
No ! Go To 3
2 Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIIIt, actuate the Radiator Fan Relay.
Wiggle the wiring harness from the Radiator Fan Relay to the PCM while the relay
is actuating.
Did the Radiator Fan Relay stop when wiggling the wiring harness?
