Default bcm, ecm replacement.

skim is acting up on my caravan and nearest dealer is a hour away. I am wondering can I take the bcm and ecm from comparable van without skim and me disconnect my skim before installing them and it work with my key and ignition?

So if you have just skim, not vta. If you get a PCM and BCM from a vehicle without skim and vta and it has the same options as yours otherwise, then yes, you can install them both at the same time, remove the skim prior and the vehicle should start and run. No new key needed. You might get an ABS light because the vin's are mismatched but you should be able to reprogram the vin in the PCM and fix that also. Stuff can happen so this is hypothetical until you prove it correct.

is vta vtss? I am not sure if my van has vtss. I tried arming the anti theft but I don't get no red light blinking showing its armed. I even tried the open window trick but can't get it to trigger. I got keyless entry with panic button. If I hit the panic button I can shut it off with key in ignition turned to on.

My problem is the red light stays solid and I get no crank. I put a OBD reader on it and it doesn't show I'm getting any fuel or ignition when the key is turned to the on position.

yep, I am referring to vtss. If you pm me the last 8 of your vin, I can tell you if you have it or not. Otherwise it sounds like a key issue. Do you have more than one key? Does it not start with both?

So it's nothing the average Joe can access unless he asks a dealership? Thanks for the info.
