If anybody should be an advocate of dodge it should be me.
However, my 2013 Grand Caravan with 2400 miles on it is very disappointing. The engine runs extremely rough with RPM's dropping and rising inconsistently, vibrating the whole car. The Chrysler dealer has twice stated that this is normal. (for Chrysler and the Big 3, I guess). It is has a good interior, layout, speakers etc. but is an engineering flop.
My work car is a Hyundai Elantra. Living in Michigan, I have access to any big three auto discount since nearly everyone here knows someone working in the big 3. I drove most every car when buying my work car and the Hyundai was a generation (or two) ahead. Try driving one (Hyundai) and then try saying I am wrong.
Without tariffs and frivolous government fines against Hyundai they would put the Big three under within a decade, I believe. I don't think I would ever consider purchasing another union built car. I just wish Hyundai would build something bigger.
David nobody else on this forum mentioned such a problem so it is not a characteristic of the Grand Caravan or the big 3. That comment makes it sound like you have some anti-domestic agenda. Your engine is probably defective. The fact that your non-union dealer shop manager is an arrogant, uncaring idiot does not make all American union workers or products bad. Consumer Reports and J.D. Powers releases unbiased opinions about all automobile brands, the difference in defects between the very worst very best is about 30%. Chrysler is on the lower end of the scale a bit below average, but so is Mercedes, Mitsubishi, Mazda, BMW, Audi, Nissan, VW etc. GM and Ford are both at or above average, so reliability isn't about domestic vs import. Dodge is owned by Fiat of Europe, in case you didn't know. Sorry to hear your engine is vibrating and they can't fix it. PS: I'm non-union.

The 2013 Grand Caravan is not known to exhibit that problem and the engine is not rougher than any other brand. There are not dozens of posts here about it and we probably have something approaching 100K owner members.

Your particular problem with frustrating post is an anomaly, so bashing of my fellow workers doesn't sway me at all. Imports like Hyundai bring unemployment, inflation and higher taxes that hurt families more than rough idle. Since I don't like that and I'm not self-centered, I'll make the best of what I have from this continent. My big 3 cars always exceed 200K mi and some reach 300K before rusting out. I own two Dodges from their worst era 2001 thru 2009 and both are operating well and very reliable, one well over 200K mi with original tranny and engine untouched aside from plugs.

I think you should focus on finding a shop and manager qualified & willing to fix it instead of hating on your neighbors and attacking dedicated workers exactly just like you who also live in USA or Canada. There is no purpose to hating upon friends and neighbors. Doctors probably have pills for that.

Your working day Elantra was probably made in Alabama and most of it engineered in Michigan. Check the door tags on the driver's side.
