I am going to call the dealership tomorrow about the tsb and ask about any for the rear brakes too. I don't know why they wouldn't check for those

After reviewing the tsb for front brakes on 2011 vehicles, it's fairly clear that involves an issue with control arm bushing compliance causing harmonics. Mfrs don't check things that aren't covered by recall or tsb because they don't have free time or money to burn.

they are going to inspect it tomorrow to see if i have the wrong part on my van....i am hoping I do and that truely fixes the warping. Then I have to see what will happen with the deductible i just paid....I just had the front brakes replaced under the extended warranty...the tsb however states that the front rotors and pads are replaced under the tsb..hmmm

Interesting dilemma. A TSB is not a recall. It's more like a secret guide used by dealers to show how to properly correct problems that are seen all-too-common. These are borderline design issues or outright defects that do not involve safety or emissions. Therefore the mfr can handle it as they wish. They can either **** off customers or do it for free under a good will offering. The dealer may split this cost with the mfr and/or the owner.

In your case you still have extended warranty, so it's best to fight for the revised parts listed under TSB for free. You apear to have a good case for it. They should not be only doing only part of the TSB and they should have caught this issue the first time.

No, I believe the TSB states the bushing design change was in 2011 and caught within a year. Once the suspension & brake system vibrates to the point of chatter from floppy bushings for a matter of months, an odd wear pattern and overheating may result. The ball joints take a beating and the pads can crack and fall apart. This happens all the time on street cars seeing track day abuse, I know lol. It can happen to large or heavy vehicles on the street too, if bushings are too soft.

This is why they are also changing pads and cutting rotors to reduce the chance of call-back. The root of the problem is the rubber bushings that are too compliant.

Verdict..we have the bad control arms! Dealership is ordering them but of course they are on back order.they said we already have the new part pads and rotorsno need to change them they also said there is nothing they can do about the deductible we paid.that is aggravating because this should have been caught

So now this will finally fix the warping front rotors eh?

the bushings in the control arms are allowing too much flex which leads to the vibration. Sounds like they made the error charging you deductible, so I would not accept being told to eat it. Whomever makes the error should pay the penalty.

Did the dealer give you an ETA on the new control arms?
