delete rear ac by changing front lines
02 grand caravan with rear ac
has anyone tried to delete the rear ac by switching the two front lines going to the expansion valve with lines made for vans without the rear ac? I know I can buy the lines from rock auto for $135 shipped (im in canada), and as far as I can tell, there is no difference with any other part of the front ac other than the lines where they split off and head down towards the back of the van.
I do see that there are rear block off plugs you can buy from streetrodguys.com but I dont like the idea of keeping four feet of line that goes nowhere for refrigerant and oil to collect and not circulate, also it will take more refrigerant to re-fill the system which is expensive. even if it works, with my luck a rock would hit the dead end line where it caps under the van and cause a leak .

Cool thanks, I couldn't see why it wouldn't work. Maybe i should have gotten the plug, but the price for a fitting is rediculous, at least with the lines im geting what i paid for lol. I'm getting rid of it because I would have to replace the underbody line and the short rear line to keep it, which I'm not willing to do since I have never used the rear ac. I actually snapped the bolt that connects those two lines and I have no hope that they will ever come apart without mangling the lines. +1 for galvanic corrosion...
