new member with 93 caravan problum
hello.
after a few years with out a dodge in the family I bought a 93 grand caravan. I love the older models, I"v owned practically one from every year 84-01. However Im having a problem. it lost power while driving, and whouldn"t go past 25 mph, and then stopped running. after checking, it had spark,is getting fuel. I changed the coil pack thinking it might help. it did start but I noticed a popping sound in the air intake. its like major sucking air into the air box(intake) almost wants to suck in the filter. I have never seen this before, any ideas whats causing this??? 1993 caravan 3.3 92k
please help......
thank you

I do not have a way of checking it, but I do smell gas after cranking it. it will eventually start and then I hear what sounds like a vacuum leak, what its doing is sucking a lot of air into the air box. that stops after about a minute. then it will hold a idle and sometimes a fast idle.
im baffled.
im baffled.
Well its not sucking in more air then usual, otherwise it would be idling really fast. Could be the idle air control if your having idling problems. If it doesn't open up enough you will smell gas because its not burning the gas because there isn't enough air for it to start.
But you can't drive it? It will idle but have no power, correct. The noise is the idle air motor opening way up to get enough air to run, then it pinches back down when started. Might want to check the pressure of the fuel system. Get a gauge from Northern Tool and equipment for under $20
