It sounds like you are willing and capable of doing some DIY. A REALLY great thing to have in your toolkit is a digital multi-meter. A decent basic model costing around $30, will give you the answer to the above question in less than 5 minutes. You can test the battery, alternator, and check for parasitic drain, without leaving your driveway. And this tool will do these things (and a lot more!) for every vehicle you have or will have in the future.

I have an OTC, But there are lots of choices.

 

so.... it failed a 3rd time...

battery... need a new battery... i went to go buy a new battery and viola... all happy.
