Default Whining noise coming from rear of van

Recently, I have noticed what sounds like severe road noise or a muffled whining sound coming from the right rear wheel area at speeds in excess of 70 kmph. I own a 2011 GC with 80,000 kms on it. Sounds like a wheel bearing to me but when I called the dealer they said they seldom go at all. I thought maybe it was a bad tire at first but I had them rotated and the noise is still there. Any ideas?

If the jeep compass have bad wheel bearings in the rear with only 36k on the vehicle. Then I would say that your van may also have a bad wheel bearing. The dealer may not have seen any bad wheel bearings, because the vans may have been out of warranty and I wouldn't pay the high price the dealer wants for the repair.

Big Dogy,

Regrettably, it is difficult to properly assess the cause of your noise by correspondence or telephone contact as there are too many variables involved. I would suggest reviewing your issue with a repairing facility and getting the vehicle properly diagnosed.

If you have any questions or are seeking additional assistance, feel free to PM me.

Could be a dragging brake pad. Happened to my '08 rear brakes twice so far.
