Default 97 grand caravan: Electrical problems? Heater blower dead

hey everyone,

My caravan has a big issue and I don't know if it's even fixable or not?

It's winter here in Canada, and my heater died. I'm in need of a fix for this so I can get home then move to another place.

I found that on the panel with the AC, rear defrost, wiper button etc,
the lights are always flashing. When i first got this vehicle, the fan would sometimes make a squeal noise for a bit when I tuned it but after a little bit it was ok.

but eventually the heater started to just shut off when i changed gears from park to reverse or drive an such and it especially would when I pressed rear defrost button. (rear defrost doesn't seem to do anything else) The heater would not work (no effect from switch)
but it would eventually come back on after a while.

Now though, it never comes back on. I checked the relay by putting in one of the same type/numbers on it and the fuse is ok. didn't help. moreover there was a 60A fuse in it when it should be 40A.

Has something fried? could it be the motor or resistor block or motor itself?
any help would be very appreciated!

EDIT: The heater blower came on today again this morning, but when i shut off engine and start again, it was gone.
No idea what this is??

Check the connections at the resistor, you could have a bad connection.

Ditto. The resistor block connector is know to overheat and break connection. On your van it's under the hood bolted to the passenger side firewall. http://www.originalmechanic.com/2013...-resistor.html

Thanks for the help! I got the van repaired at a shop. apperantly the wiring was all fried, so it had to be fixed and the burned areas bypassed. after that, everything worked again even some other little glitches I was having. cost me 250$ in the end but i guess thats not too bad to have this issue repaired. So I got home in time and all is good so far!

Heat is good. That said, I hope it was more than the usual fried harness leading to the resistor block. Replacement harnesses pigtails are available for $25 and very easy to replace. I think there's even a YouTube how to video on the subject. Anyway, you've got heat at the right time of the year - a big plus.
