[4th Gen : 01-07]: Recommendation Remote Starter 1 Mile Range
I live in 3 story apartment building and park my car usually about a block or 2 away. I'm looking which Remote Car Starter 2-Way Model should I buy and install it myself? Any recommendations?

If you want a good remote starter, you can get a Viper 4806V or 4706V. They have lifetime warranties. Depending on the year and model you might need a t-harness and transponder bypass as well. Idatalink has both ADS-AL CA for bypass, and ADS-HRN CH5 for the t-harness. Wherever you get the bypass from you'll have to get it programmed for your specific vehicle

Compustar is a decent brand I believe they have a lifetime warranty on their remote start "brains" like Viper does. You are right you won't need a bypass or a T-harness for a 2003, which is good and bad. You'll have to manually make all your wiring connections vs using the vehicles data to make most of them. Not a huge deal but requires more time for the install. You can check out idatalink.com or xpresskits.com and enter your vehicle info and they will tell you exactly what you need.
Thank you for your help. In regards to bypass, I'm very happy that I don't need any for my car. I don't mind splicing all the wires to get Remote Starter working since I don't need anything for doors or locks. All I need to find a good decent remote starter which will work in my case and for cheaper is better
. Any other remote starters would you recommend with 2 ways & 1 mile feature in the range $150-$200?

Another quick question in regards to Viper 5704 remote starter & Alarm. Would it be OK to setup only starter without alarm wires since I only need remote starter and keep the alarm option for future?
Hmm I'm not sure if it would work like that or not because with a security system you have to make a break in the starter wire, and remote start only, you just tap into the start wire. You could probably just hook up the alarm to the starter without connecting any other door triggers or the siren, but if the vehicle is shaken enough then the alarm would trip, and without connecting any other door triggers or lock/unlock you wouldn't be able to disarm the alarm and wouldn't be able to start your vehicle. I've never hooked one up like that so I couldn't tell you for sure

I talked to my buddy today and said you could hook up the remote start security combo without using the starter kill portion meaning you wouldn't make the break in the starter, so hopefully that will make things easier for you
I run the Viper 5704 remote start /alarm and its fantastic.
I had an Avital before that. A Bare Bones Keyless entry remote start that had really long range.
Both of the above had great range. I can be in the grocery store and hit it and the van will be blowing cool or warm according to the weather.
The Avital was purchased on the cheap and my son-in-law is a long time audio shop installer and loves them for the ease of install, cost, and reliability.
