This code keeps coming back every now and then. Does anyone know what it means?

Usually the catalytic converter is the fix but that's after years of use. I'd have a hard time believing the cat is bad on a 2012. Stranger things have happened.

aame9126,

The P-0430 code is related to the catalyst efficiency of the vehicle. Being a 2012, it is likely you still have warranty remaining on the vehicle. I would suggest arranging an appointment with your local servicing Dodge Dealer to diagnose the concern. Be sure to speak with the Service Manager. The dealer will use the resources available to pinpoint the source of your error code.

Keep us posted,

Thank you for your help !
I read the code P0430 by turning the egnition on\off three times.
But when I took the car to the dealer they told me they recieved code PO159 th their computer. They said sensor 2/2 bank 2 rear downstream had a slow response. I ended up having them replace the sensor ( 300 dollars ).
The engine light went away, but it came back on the same day driving back home from work. I don't have the time to go back to the dealer as they work bank hours, besides its pretty expensive too.
When I got home I disconnected the negative cable from the battery for a few minutes, the code has cleared and its been two days, don't know the driving cycle on this car, i have the feeling once completed it will come back.
My warranty has just expired i have 38k miles on the car. Also if you can please tell me where is the location of the sensor replaced, i went under the car i couldn't find it, thank you all for your help..

Turned out the real reason I was getting the P0430 was the type of gas I was using.
It wasnt until I read somewhere that blended gas with ethanol is causing a lot of newer cars to throw emissions codes.I didn't even notice that the gas station i would from to time go to was selling E10 %
Since I stopped using that gas the light stayed away. But I I wanted to make sure that was the reason and not coincedense.I went and put in 10 dollars of blended gas with E10 and sure enough the mil light came back up onafter 20 miles of normal driving, I switched back to regular gas with NO ethanol and the mil went away right after the driving cycle about week later, so there it is ....true story!!

Very interesting outcome, and thank you for posting this information! Did you check your owner's manual to see if there's anything in there about the use of E10 in your van?

A badly blended gas will usually cause lean or rich codes, maybe some misfires.

If the ONLY code you're getting is the P0430, you either have an exhaust leak before the downstream O2, a bad downstream O2 or you need a converter. There is a remote chance the gas damaged your converter and caused the code to show up. I don't think you've seen the end of this.

BTW, stop disconnecting your battery as you are wiping out all of the data related to the codes that are setting. If the light comes back on, go to another dealer.
