Default Stowing Spare tire

My owners manual says when tightening the nut that drags the spare up under the van, tighten it until you hear three clicks. It says it can't be over tightened.

Well, I tightened it very tight and still didn't hear any clicks. I have a regular full size tire and rim for a spare.

what year is your van? I see we are in the '01 - '07 section and you can't get a full size spare for those. Is your van older?

My '01 came with a full size spare, and I believe they were available up to a least '04.

When they came out with Stow 'N Go in '05 the spare moved from the back to the center of the vehicle. I don't know if the non Stow 'N Go '05's had a full size spare option or not.

My van is a 2003. I purchased it used and yes it has a full size spare rim and tire. It came that way. My question was not about the tire. As I said the owners manual says when cranking up the spare under the rear to keep cranking until you hear three clicks.

I don't hear any clicks.

guess I've never known one to click, as long as the tire is tight below, good enough.

yes one or 2 clicks. I would not keep doing it due to it being stuck on the next time you need it lol. hate where they put this thing.

My guess is that the rust has eliminated any clicking sounds. A couple of years ago, my wife got a flat and there was absolutely no way that spare was coming down. When I finally got the van home, I had to pry the secondary latch out so that the spare could drop.

The spare tire winch. They get all rusty and eventually you can't get the spare down. Would lower mine every spring, clean it out from the winter of salt and snow and lube it up real good.
