I just read a write-up about this today. Google "2008-2014 Chrysler and Dodge minivan shifter fix / repair" (include the quotes) to find the article. The article says it is caused by a bad switch actuator in the shifter. It claims that removing then replacing a 10 amp fuse in the TIPM (fuse box) will allow you to remove the key. I have included a picture of the my TIPM with the 10 amp fuse (red) highlighted.

Please let us know if removing the fuse actually works.

The manual list that fuse as fuse M27, 10A, Ignition Switch and Window Module.

George

What ever you do, don't force the fob to turn off and pull it out of the WIN module. Get the vehicle to the dealer. Most likely the problem is with the shifter. but it could be the WIN module. Do you know if the ignition recall was done?

Have had problems with the windows rolling down or up? Or no radio? If you have had these problems, remove the ring on the ignition and pull out the metal ring that dealer installed. And put the black ring back on. The ignition recall was only to install the metal ring so the fob wasn't easy to pull out. The module wasn't replaced. The dealer is to hook up a scanner and find out which company made the modules, there were only two company's. Only one of them got the metal ring and other did not apply.

Do this. Don't use your key/fob, get a small screwdriver and a flash light. Look down inside the hole that key goes in. Do you see any debris inside the hole? If you do the WIN module is coming apart and causing the key to hang up.

Default new problems today

took van to dealer for ignition key coming charged me $390.00 for shifter switch, key works good now,but this morning my brake light, skid light, other lights on in dash the dealer might be the brake module but I didn't have the money for him to test the module they wont check it for free, so I came home now why is this happening?? in the winter this happened but went off a few weeks later.man these problems are very expensive just cant afford repairs.
