we have a 2010 for about a year now, the front heat and ac work as normal but there is no power at the rear center console controls. I checked the fuses and they are in tact. how do you remove the heater control from the center console to troubleshoot it ?

 

Rear fan won't blow correct? Have you jumped or swapped the relay?

 

i have not, i dont know how to jump the relay, i assume that bypasses it?

 

Yes. Remove the rear blower relay. On the bottom of the relay you'll see the contact ID numbers. Find 30 and 87. Correlate those contacts to the socket on the panel. Take a short length of wire and connect the two contacts on the panel. No need to turn the key on.

 

no luck jumping that relay still no fan speed operation, i do hear a faint sound around the rear access panel like a solenoid click but thats it

 

Chances are you have a toasted blower motor or controller or wiring problem. I would access the motor connector and see if there's power and ground there. If you see it there the motor is toast.

BTW - Do you have auto temp controls and did you turn the key to on/run? Sure the fuse is good? I'm showing 20 amp fuse J15 on a diagram for an 08.

 

thanks again, it has the basic duel zone dial controls up front, i tried it key on and key off no fan operation either way, fuse is good. I assume there is a rear blower motor somewhere in that right rear access panel?

 

Yes in the passenger side rear.

Watch through 12:15 to see how to get to it (but DON'T unhook the lines in the wheel well), then skip to 16:00 to see where the resistor and blower motor are and how to remove.

 

Great video. Thanks for posting it. The vid showed a blower resistor. Any idea if a blower controller (for auto temp) would be in the same location?
