Default Grand Caravan honks when starting

My 2008 Grand Caravan started honking 3 times when the key is moved to the on position. I tried another key, but it still does this. Any suggestions? It is annoying when I have to start the car at 5 a.m. & the neighbors are trying to sleep.

First thing I would consider is a week battery or loose, corroded battery connections. The BCM built into the instrument cluster on your van is the controller for the horn. It is sensitive to power fluctuations. Consider having it load tested at any parts store. Other than that you could disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 minutes to try to reset the controller.

Be sure to keep us posted on this, partvalentine. I wasn't able to find any TSBs related to this concern.

Well, the battery is good. So I unhooked the neg side & had it off for about 1/2 hour. It didn't reset anything. It still honks 3 quick honks every time I start the van. I guess I will have to take it to the dealer again. This van has had strange electrical problems that do not show any trouble codes. It will intermittently not start, but if you turn the key on & off a couple of times it starts. The computer board has been replaced the last time it was at the dealer. But unfortunately it still does the no start thing. My Dodge service guy knows me by name when he sees me. They had it for over a month one time & could never get it to reproduce the problem.

Various model years of the 5th generation vans 08-15 have been plagued with various electrical problems usually caused by the TIPM (fuse box) to the point of recalls, investigations and class action law suits. The TIPM is far more than a fuse box.

A trip to the dealership was going to be my next suggestion, partvalentine. Keep us posted if you decide to do so!

I don't have a theft system. But there is a new flashing light that comes on when I park the van & lock it, reminds me of a theft system. I was going to mention this to the dealer too.
Thanks for the suggestion.
