Default What is this part called?

Hi,

My 2003 Dodge Caravan is making squeaky noises at low speed and I also hear some scraping noise. All on the rear left side.

Took the wheel of, suspecting the shock might be bad and noticed these bushing like parts that seem to have suffered quite a bit.

(picture attached)

What are they called? Looks like I will have to replace them. They seem to act as a buffer between the rear axle and the floor of the car.

Are they this way because my shocks are bad and the axle hits the floor a lot?

It's called a bump stop. And yes. The are the last defense when a shock/strut/coil spring or leaf spring goes bad. Prevents metal to metal contact.

The correct. Its a bumper for the rear axle tube. If the shocks are bad, I would replace them first. And recheck. How are the rear brakes?
