Default Obd2?

Hello folks,

Is there an OBD2 port for a 1990 Grand Caravan? Where is it located?

If not, How do I check for Codes? KOEO, KOER?

Thank You,

1990 is OBD1. Google checking codes on an OBD1 vehicle. All it takes is a paper clip and counting flashes.

Pretty sure you can just do the key trick to get the codes on these.
turn key on-off-on-off-on (not starting motor), the check engine light will begin to flash. 1-2, X-X, 5-5, the X-X will be the code, 1-2 and 5-5 are start and end codes.

After jkeaton's post, I researched and found the procedure you suggest, smokesxt. Those were the 2 codes that came up. 1-2, 5-5. There were no other codes. I, also, realized that I mistook the 'Check Gages' light as being the 'Check Engine' light. 'Check Engine' light is not on, just 'Check Gages'.

So now I have to figure out why the 'check gages' light is on.
There is Oil Temp, Coolant Temp, and Battery Voltage. The needles of the Oil and Coolant are just below halfway. With alternator charging, I checked the voltage at the Battery to be 13.94.

Any suggestions what I should check regarding 'Check Gages'?

Thank you,

Was it low on fuel?
Is the alternator charging properly?

Alternator charging voltage is at 13.94.

Daughter has since picked up her van since my last post. I contacted her today and asked if the 'check gages' light is on and if she had fueled the van up. She said 'check gages' light is off and van is fueled up.

It probably was low fuel warning.

Thanks for the idea, smokesxt,

Glad to hear it's all good. Love to hear people keeping these vans on the road.
