[5th Gen : 08+]: Need full wiring Wheelchair van ...diagram and suggestions 2012 grand caravan
Hey!
OK, tried the dealer and another mechanic first ... no luck.
Background, my wife has a special handicapped equipped 2012 grand caravan. Time for inspection but the air bag light it on. I went to the dealer, they said since the van had been modified, they will not even look at it.
They did say it was an airbag sqib 1 and 2 are showing open, passenger seats occupant detector high (with no one in the seat) and seat belt open when it is locked in place.
I then tried a local dealer that claims to fix wheelchair vans ... again no luck.
The problem is a third party company out of the mid west (about 800 miles away), cut the floor out of the van and dropped it 9". to do this they removed and extended a lot of the wires.
The van was then shipped to the east coast and some more modifications done (like the seat belt moved and a wheelchair lock plate added) by another company (they are a days drive away).
We live in Vermont.
So, I am guessing I have a wiring problem since all these things just came up at the same time.
Non of the companies that worked on the van will help me with a wiring diagram ... although it seems like all they did was extend and move existing wires.
I am good with a meter and tracing connections if I have a diagram.
Can anyone help me locate one for this van?
Also, any suggestions on where I should start looking? There is no longer a drivers seat. The wheelchair just locks into a plate there.
Traction light has been acting up ... so I need to look at the clock spring?
Oh, and also, suggestions on a decent (but not tooooo expensive) code reader? I got a cheap reader that feeds into a tablet ... uses free software .... no giving me any error codes.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!
Mike

Dealer has NO ACCESS to this and they do not sell them from factory this way.
I can tell you though that most of them I look at are different from the next one. There really is no set template for these retrofits. Possibly a motor home center could be of assistance.
If you have no experience with airbags, then I wouldn't go poking around.

I am sure it is not the airbag or seat or seat belt switch. All would not fail at the same time. My best guess it a connector corroded or was damaged or the wiring harness damaged.
If I have a wiring diagram, I can trace out each wire and see where the problem is.
Thanks ... Mike
