Grand caravan 3.3 p0016 p0344
Hi!
I am new here. Sorry for my english A few days ago I saw on my desk check engine(DTC P0344 and P0016). After this, there was a problem-engine was going good to some 3000RPM I think, more than 3000 was a tragedy. I change the camshaft sensor and nothing change. Because I had also problem with oil consumption, I decided to take engine to pieces. After that, I Saw that the timing gear looks ok, signs are on place. Flex plate is also ok. So, why I saw Check engine? Men in the shop told me that should be 14mm camshaft gear. My car is from 2005 and there was a 17mm gear. Now I dont know which one is correct. I also saw, that on my engine block is chrystler mark-is it ok or not I dont know. Please help me

You did an engine tear down for those codes - wow! Did you at least test the camshaft sensor signal with a scope before doing so? Sorry to sound so negative, but it doesn't sound like you're doing the proper type of diagnosis. (unless there's a bunch of stuff you left out)

The knocking sound can be from cam sensor possibly, because when I put this sensor to whole, there was a contact with cam gear on the begining and the sensor(I dont know how to say that-was wiping or was scraping, rubing)cam gear. I have a new video with two sensors together. Maybe this will help. I am not a specialist, but I think that problem is with reading by cam sensor-you can see it on a screenshot
