Question Trailer pack on Dodge Grand Caravan 2019

Hi guys, bought a 2019 Grand Caravan ( in 2019 brand new) and it has a trailer pack. The electrical plug is a round 7 pins type and I want to know if it is fit with electric brakes on a trailer? Can't find the info anywhere. I want to get a utility trailer and wonder if I should buy it with brakes or not, depending on the system on my van. Thank you

I would be more concerned about how much weight your van is rated to tow, and how much a trailer that has brakes weighs..... From what I can find in a quick search, the van is only rated to 3600 pounds.... Generally, trailers in that range don't have/need brakes.

In the 7 pin connector the # 4 pin is dedicated for electric brakes.

If you aren't towing over 2000lbs then you don't have to have trailer brakes. And nothing you will put on a standard utility trailer will weigh 2000lbs. I suppose you could haul a cord of wood or a ton of blocks but most of those trailers aren't heave enough for that.

Edit: https://drivinglaws.aaa.com/tag/trai...han%2030%20mph. Says that some states are as low as 1500lbs, but still that's more than a utility trailer would haul. That's the weight of a fiberglass boat or pop up camper.
