Default Transmission Diagnosis Help

I have a 2015 GCV SXT with 70k miles. Never had a problem with the transmission till yesterday. Took a short drive. Noticed a new whine noise coming from what i now now is the transmission. I figured I would look at it when I got home. Didn't make it. While at highway speed transmission went into neutral. I tired switching to manual nothing. Now about 1-10 starts it will get into first gear, but then it comes out of gear.

Car has transmission fluid, but not sure it is 100% full.

Car has the following codes:
  • P0729
  • P0731
  • P0733
  • P0846
  • P083B
Can anybody tell me hat this might mean? I'd like to be educated walking into a transmission shop so I don't get the straight we need to replace/rebuild the transmission.

Transmission is in what we call limp in or fail safe mode. Most likely the damage is done. It is time for a replacement or overhaul.

Hi DIYorDIE,
If you're thinking you'd like to have this looked at by the dealer, let us know. We're available via direct message and can help with this process.

Same thing happened to me it's torque converter clutch that deteriorated and the debri clogged up the filter that's why you hear the whining sound because the oil can't go to the pump and through in the transmission and the van won't drive if you shut down the van for a bit the debri will fall to the bottom of the pan then when you restart the van it will go till the debri clogs up the filter again and the van stops. You need a transmission rebuilt with a new torque converter go to a good honest reliable shop they'll check it out and tell you an estimate mine cost $2500.00 with the updated drum and better clutches and bans.

Class in session, The transmission you have is a 62TE means the you have 6 forward gears, Duty type2, T for transverse and E is fully Electronic. There are no Bands in this transmission. P0731 is gear ratio error in 1st and P0733 is gear ratio error in 3rd gears. More than likely what mopar340 said. The torque converter pass debris into the pump and filter causing to go into limp in. The clutch packs as follow. Reverse, Underdrive, Overdrive, 2/4 and low reverse. Then there is the underdrive compounder with the direct clutches. The solenoid pack is mounted on the valve body and not outside the case. That was only on the 41TE and early 604 transmission.
