[4th Gen : 01-07]: Skim/pin number not working
Hello,
Was wondering if anyone has ran into this situation. I did something really dumb and now have no keys. I had to go to the dealership to provide proof of ownership and id in order to obtain the skim and ignition number that I also had to pay for. I had a locksmith cut the keys and reprogram them with the info from dealership. The pin or skim number I'm told is wrong.. These new keys start the car for about 30 seconds then shuts down as it does not recognize the pin .Nothing internal in steering column has ever been replaced. This locksmith said I would need to have someone come out to dismantle the steering column area as the code to the car is on something in their. If you could take a guess by my great shop talk. Yes definitely a female that knows a car goes and has 4 wheels. That is where my expertise lies. This little mishap has now cost 423.00 so far, have 2 keys that don't work. Is there another way to verify the pin? If by chance this number was entered incorrectly, have to go over and beyond normal route because of this could I get Dodge to pay just for the extra needed to verify the correct pin. I called the dealership 2 times after going in person just to verify that what I have is correct. Yes with the vin number that is correct.
Any suggestions or guidance would be much appreciated.

Yes, Sometimes the vin could be off by a number or a letter. I ran into this all the time. You could also have a bad Skim module too. If you send me a pm with the codes they gave you and the last 9 of the vin. I maybe able to let you know if the code is correct.
You can get any cheap OBD dongle for about 20 bucks and the Torque Pro app for your smartphone for 5$ then use the Free app called "PIN Puller" for chrysler and you get your PIN !!! if you want you can even reprogram your own keys - On Amazon - Kingbollen scanner //programmer - works with your smartphone - free app - costs 100$ on Amazon - ...and ---- you can use it for any future cars you have !!!!
