fuse 5 and 6 are the power outlet and the cigar lighter. Notice fuse 6 can be moved to make it battery powered instead of key on.

There is NOT a self-resetting fuse! You have to replace both the "A" relay and the #8 fuse and it will reset itself. I have done this and mine works wonderfully. It is not that the dealerships repair shop is uneducated it is that the fuses and relays work together to reset themselves. The wording the owner's manual is very misleading. Hope this helps you like it did for my van. We use it for charging our phone, gps, and of course the dvd player for the kids on trips, so we couldn't go with out it.

Default Solution to Power Outlet not functioning in front or back to 2000 Dodge Caravan

It started when my power inverter unscrewed inside of my front power outlet, which I am assuming had blown a fuse because the power outlet in the back also stopped working.
I checked the fuses under the hood and it turned out to be fuse #4, 20 Amp. Both Power Outlets are now working

Thank you - This finally gave the clues I needed to fix the Radio/Power outlet problem. I've looked at a number of sites and nothing really definitive. I believe this set up started in '05, previous years seem to be around fuse #5. This is what I did. I removed the fuse and relay indicated in the photo. The fuse was blown and I replaced it first then reinserted the relay. Heard a soft click. Turned on ignition and - walla - the radio worked. Not sure if just replacing the fuse would have reset the relay but with all that is written about it being a dealer reset item, I believe removing the relay is the key.

Hi everyone, I own a 2005 Grand Caravan and I just had this problem fixed. I only had to change two 20amp fuses and they weren't hidden like some of you were saying. It cost me $3.50. They were found at the fuse box beside the battery.

I have a 200 watt inverter in my van and have used it many times to run 1 laptop that I use for GPS. Made a trip to Michigan last week and the wife wanted to take her laptop to watch a movie or two. I checked the wattage of each laptop and new that the total wattage would not exceed 80 watts. I figured that we would not exceed 100 watts and the 12v current draw should be around 10 to 12 amps. Well halfway through the trip the relay would shut down and then would reset. Eventually blew fuse #5 right when I needed the GPS and I had no paper map. I have sence replaced the relay and the fuse.

I am now wireing the inverter directly to the battery with a 20amp fuse and 10 gage wire. That should be enough to run up to 200 watts. I am now looking for some automotive 8 gage wire to hook up the 400 watt inverter in my truck directly to the battery.
