'03 GC - Transmission Downshift Bump
Hi all,
I've started to get a hard bump everytime the tranmission shifts down from what's seems to be second gear. I have no other problems with the transmission. Everything else is smooth! 100k on it.
I am going to take it in for a diagnosis but would like to hear your ideas.
Thanks,

RE: '03 GC - Tranmission Downshift Bump
Well, I got the word from the dealer. They said:
1) replace the throttle position sensor
2) perform a throttle bottle service/cleaning
I am going to replace the sensor ($32cad) and go from there. Anyone have any instrucions or know if its a hard job?

Did the dealer tell you that over the phone or did they look at it? This dont make sense to me.....not at all. Its easy to do, but I dont see the relationship. I mean, after removing the foot off the pedal, as the van come to a stop, the bumps is felt as there is no imput to the TPS...it just non-sense....please keep me inform.

RE: '03 GC - Tranmission Downshift Bump
I have the same problem on my 01' Caravan. I took it to the Tranny shop and they said that it's the tranny mount. I had my wife shift from park to reverse to drive while I watched the engine and the movement proved out the mount problem. I am changing it tomorrow and will let you guys know what happens.

BEEBOW:
An defective engine/transmission mountwill not give you the downshifting bump in question. A downshifting bump, even that is very fast, is a fade-in fade-outshift transition, while a bad mount bump is felt in the body as a hevy object impacting its mount. Very different stuff. Thanks for your comment anyway.
