Dodge's web sight says that the production modle of the Challenger will be revealed on Feb 6 2008. Now this is when the production version is unveiled, but when will it go into production? Have there been any romours as to changes that may be made to it? Any furthur wourd on engine sizes? Also what may we be looking at in terms of price?

 

Nothing for sure has been documented (to my knowledge). Though prevailing rumors have been a limited 15,000 units of 6.1 w/ 6speed and dtermine from there whether large or smaller powerplants.

My GUESS is smaller powerplants for sure, and perhaps a limited 6.4 run in SRT8 badges.

 

yeah nothing but rumors right not, who knows what engines, but I've heard somewhere 20-30,000 units. Who knows, it's just all rumors until dodge tells us themselves.

 

15,000 seems like alot of cars?
I have a few 1970 SuperBirds and they made less then 1900 of them

 

Until it's available everything will just be rumors. My worst fear would be them turning it into the Charger R/T concept to Charger production versionby completely restyling it and slapping another pair of doors on it. And yes, I'm well aware that the '99 concept Charger R/T was a 4 door, but it was a well done sleek design that hid the rear doors quite well to the point that most that saw it didn't even notice that it even hadrear doors.

 

If they screw up the challenger you may just see me driving a new mustang. that would be the last straw. the charger was a big let down i think.

 

Is DC waiting for the Challenger to see if they can sell Chrysler / Jeep? The 2008 Avenger is already on the roads... What's up? I saw build pictures that were posted, but it was a Concept Car, not in production... 4 Doors were on the Assembly Line in the Background, with only 1 Challenger in the whole plant...

 

If DCX sticks to the Feb unveil there should be some amount of units already in the pipeline as they will have been producing "pilot" vehicles for "mules" including endurance testing, crash testing and all the other Gov't -related testing necessary before release.

Much like the there were Shelby GT500s "around" and making their way to select dealers as it was being launched in "production version" on the Auto show circuit.

 

went to my local dealer friday & i was told the challenger was to be only a two year model run with 5000 units to be built yearly ,I was looking to preorder one but now?

 

Yeah I would take anything you hear from a dealership with a huge grain of salt...because it doesnt make any sense at all to spend the millions upon millions of dollars developing and designing a brand new vehicle to only build 10,000 units over two years.

If anything, the first two years of prodcution will probably be limited in total production numbers but after that you'll probably see a large number of Challengers on the road...the new Mustang so to speak. But thats just my theory...
