Default New Challenger Order

This kinda goes along the direction the post "dealership ripoff" is headed. I went and put in an order for but have not heard from the dealership if I will be able to get it. I ordered it silver in color, without the sunroof. I like the interior cluster and certain aspects of the material/set-up better than the concept. The old school spoiler they added looks great. What I dont like is the lowered rear side marker and new style brake lights. I really like the one piece taillights. I also hate that it only comes with an automatic. It does come standard with the autostick, I used to have a Sebring with that in it, definetly is not the same. I did not know that it was only going to be offered in SRT8 package. Just another reason for them to charge more money.I thought I read that there was going to be a stripped version with the hemi and a six speed manual transmission. I dont need or want all the extras just pure unadulterated power. Maybe next year. Then they can sell it for 25 instead of 40.

Well here we go got an email about the Challenger that I wantED. I dont think this is going to happen. Not because I cant but because I refuse to feel as if I am getting ripped off. I did find out that after the 08 model there will not be anymore SRT8's made EVER! I dont really believe that but that came from the dealers mouth. Just wants to sell the car IMO.

Hello Mr. Ellis, I do have a Silver Challenger on its way here right now. We expect it to arrive in 4 to 6 weeks. It is an X pkg. with My Gig entertainment and moon roof. All of our Challengers will be that Pkg. The MSRP on this car is 41,935 we will sell it for 20,000 over MSRP. 61,935 is our price. There are only 2 dealers in our region that will get 3 of these cars. One of ours is already taken. I found one online that went for $400,000. If you are interested in buying this car I will need a $5000 non-refundable deposit. I know that may sound steep but we could get more for them on e-bay than we can selling them here on the lot. Please contact me if you have any questions. My email is craigmcbride@siskautomall.com Thanks Again, Craig McBride

How bout that for a mark up. BOHICA!!!!!

Don't fret. There are Challengers going for less than 10k over list available. Even Ebay is not that high. If you don't want the numbered dash plaque you can wait a short while and get a great car. If you really want that plaque you will have to pay over list.

I knew these reports of dealer rip off's would be coming soon. The sad thing, there are many people out there that are high enough to pay that extra BS dealer markup.

lol ebay prices has dropped due to people finally realizing this isnt a supercar. i got one for msrp. the srt8s will run through 2009 as well so dont listen to your dealer. also the 400k one was at the barret jackson auction for charity and it was the #1 challenger. lol dealers are so full of it. tell him to put it up on ebay , he wont get more than 47 for it, which most likely are dealers buying them to gouge ppl in their area.

The local dodge dealership here quoted me 5k over the sticker price. Somewhere just over 46k. Still a bit much for me.
It would have been nice if they would have just produced the Challenger right off the bat in packages. Srt package with the 6.1, manual transmission, and your choice of interior options. Whether you wanted a simple cd player up to that gig thing, power windows or not...
Then Offer the R/T with the High Output 5.7 385 hp non MDS V8 also with 6 speed transmission.

I don't remember Ford only releasing just the Ford GT when it came out, it was out with v6 and v8 at day one, later with the Rousch/Shelby, and other packages.

They aren't making cars for us working man enthusiasts... That is where they will lose money... That and the dealerships attitudes.

With all that said, I still would like to get my hands on one, when the price has calmed down...

Shop shop shop. I went into dealers with pix of the prototype SRT-4 to order one before most knew what one was. Most had crazy rip off mark ups too but I eventually found one asking the under $20,000 list. Left a deposit and told him I wanted the first Yellow one.

The majority of dealers will only get 1 or 2 initial cars. I would bet at least half of the vehicles ordered are for resale. Our local dealers have the lists of 'interested' people and will go down the list and offer them at 'current market value' not to exceed $10k over msrp.

Not that I would pay 50 cents over any msrp, but idiots were paying $10k over for PT cruisers!

In reality, what difference does it make if the dealer gets over list, or sells it to someone who immediately puts it on ebay for a profit?

Let the dealers make a couple extra bucks on a few cars by people who want to pay it, and wait awhile....these will be available someday with rebates or low financing, just depends how patient you are!
