Default Questions

Okay...I've searched the manual high and low and can't find the answer to a couple of questions. Car in question is '11 Challenger SE 3.6L.

1. What is the little hemispherical gizmo in the center of the dash?
2. Where the heck is the odometer?
3. What does the middle part of the audio button on the left side back of the steering wheel do?
4. Not a manual question but hubby wants to know...do you recommend something like ArmorAll on the dash?

Still learning. Expect I will be learning for several months. It was a year before I found the lumbar support on my Intrepid.

1. Not sure which one u talking about, But I am thinking it is the center 3.5" speaker under it.
2. In the middle of the speedo cluster, think u have to press the buttons on the steering wheel to see the odometer.
3. not sure which one u talking about, But all of the buttons on the steering wheel is either radio control, U-connect(blue tooth) control, or buttons to scroll thru the menu in the cluster. Just play around with it.
4. Sure, why not? but usually Water do the trick on cleaning. If you want it look shiny, Armorall doesnt hurt. But Meguiar product are more popular in detailing for few dollar more.

Thanks, guys. Two questions answered.

Assume the headlight "eye" turns them on at dark. Must remember to let it try the next time I'm out at night.

Re: odometer...I found the button which resets the trip counter. But I'm looking for the total mileage on the car. Hubby says he saw it once as he turned the car off but we have no clue how to display it.

Center button on the left back of the steering wheel audio controls still eludes me. Maybe it doesn't do anything.

The '73 was a lot simpler.

Meguiars works for me.

I get to carry the flag around our local dirt track next week when they play the national anthem at the start of the race. They tell me to keep the speed to ten miles per hour. Ugh.

The kids have taken to referring to my car as "Grandma's kick-*** ride." I'm the envy of every teenage boy in town and the target of every cop in the county.

WHAT FUN!

Your headlight swicth must be set to "A" (automatic) for this to work.

Press it multiple times -- it should cycle.

Check your owner's manual for that one.

Meguiars works for me.

Fun it is ... congrats!

toofart, I'm having a hard time keeping up. Set to "A"? There's no "A" on the light ****, so I assume that's buried somewhere in the computer I have yet to figure out. Must bear down on this but the last thing I want to do is learn another program.

If I press the button on the instrument panel "multiple times", won't it zero out my trip counter? Not that it matters, I guess, since I've at least figured out how to access the mpg info in that bleeping computer. That's all I use the trip counter for and I don't have to manually figure the mileage any more.

The owner's manual mentions the audio control buttons in passing but is a little scant on details. No big deal. I can still get Bob Seeger to play on the CD.

The center part of the button on the back of the steering wheel control is a "reference" point. It's out there so you, the driver, knows which part of the button is up and down instead of having a flat rocker style switch. Think of it as like brail. You can not see the switch, so that little nub is there for touch reference.

Page 138 of your owner's manual? Doesn't your **** have an "A" if not, then you don't have the automatic headlights, and that nipple on the center of the dash is unused.

It turns out that the center buttons on the steering wheel controls do have some functions, at least when the radio is on. The right side toggles back and forth between AM and FM. The left side advances the preset station number on each band every time you press it.

Will report on CDs (and my iPod) after I take a cat to the vet.

You're right, toofart. This is the bare-bones model with 3.6L engine. Doesn't even have fog lights, though I'm thinking of having them retro-fitted. It's nowhere near as fancy as everyone else's but it'll crank out 32 mpg without half-trying and it's still faster than a scared kitten.

Wonder why they put that little nipple on the dash when it doesn't do anything. Maybe it'll fool people into thinking there are actually auto lights.

Oh, re: odometer, we did find it. It's displayed when everything is off and you open the door. At least sometimes...

Now to get back to figuring out those audio buttons when CD is playing. A little more detail in the manual would have been nice. Won't bore you with my adventures getting the iPod to play yesterday. Suffice it to say that the volume indicator arrow on the iPod does NOT tell you where the volume actually is.
