Default Flooded challenger

Hello! I have a question. I am looking up a Dodge Challenger 2010 2B3CJ5DT6AH280968 sold in auction in November 2024 in Florida. The damage is flood, but the car is working pretty fine, and the transmission also. There is a control module which is not working for front driver seat.

There are no indications on dash board. I am wondering if if it is reliable. Checked it in Carfax, but there are no photos. Or if you have any information it would be useful.

Thank you!

I wouldn't touch a flood vehicle with a 10' pole. Too many potential problems down the road. Reliable? No way to know.

Like they say in the Monty Python movie "The Holy Grail", "Run Away! Run Away!". Cars back in the day were okay if you changed all the fluids and drove a lot. By the time the body rotted away, it was worn out anyway. Newer cars with computers work on partial voltages. Like a range of 5.2 to 6.3. Corrosion messes that up. This car has ONE module not working now. I'll bet you anything you want to lose, more modules WILL fail. This is a pile of parts only. The body will start to rust in odd places, the interior will start to smell in the upcoming summer heat and it will have constant electrical issues. Keep in mind, flood waters are full of everything. Quite often sewage. Do you wan to be sitting on a seat of last weeks used food?

Does it have a clear title or salvage? It depends on what is considered a "flood". Did it just get to the door jams or over the roof. Also depends if it was fresh or salt water. Salt water can do more damage(I seen this first hand when hurricane Sandy hit(salt water)). I had to work a piece of equipment that got flooded, Anything aluminum was corroded. A lot of unanswered questions with flood vehicles.

Unfortunately, a lot of cars have modules down low at the floor pan or in the kick panels.

I would point out, that insurance companies tend to 'total' cars that have been involved in flooding, simply due to the amount of electronics stuffed into 'em nowadays..... Dirty water and electronics just don't mix. Buying a flood car, is a guarantee you are going to have issues with it. Find something else.

If the title is branded, the insurance company may not allow you any more than basic insurance as required by the law. You WON"T be able to get collision coverage as the car has been totaled once. The title will probably have "Flood" or "Submerged" on the top of the title. That's called branding. I've seen people wash the title, but still, you know this was a flood car. You WILL have problems.

The OP said he is "looking up" whatever that means. I did find the car though.

After clicking on verify 6 times, I gave up. I notice the OP hasn't been back.
