Understanding Height Drop With Performance Springs
I'm looking to replace the springs in my 2023 Challenger. It already has the handling package, so this is where my confusion comes in. When they note the amount of drop (front and rear) is that based on a model with base springs? I have noticed that Challengers without the handling package ride quite a bit higher than ones with it. Currently my front sits with just over an inch clearance in the front, so if I were to go by what BMR states for their performance springs, it would drop another 1.25 inches. This doesn't seem right as that would basically close the gap between the fender and top of tire and would be too low for what I'm looking for. I want to just close up the rear gap and get it more level with the front. Am I right in thinking their drop figures are on a base model with standard factory height? If so, then their springs should keep my front at or very close to current?
Thanks! The height has dropped a little from this pic. This was when it was new and it settled after a month or so. Still, you can see a drop of 1.25" would be too much for the front.
You don't wanna drop it any more..... Unless you like munching up tires..... Get the specs for the handling package, likely larger anti-sway bars/better shocks, is about all you are going to be able to do.
I'd like the back to drop an inch or so to level it out. So if aftermarket springs are based on the standard ride height, I would assume they would keep the front about where it is and drop the rear. None of the aftermarket companies say where the actual starting height is before the drop. My last 2016 R/T had the handling package, but sat a bit higher than this one. A friend had an R/T with no handling package and it sat high on both ends. Guess I need to make more inquiries with the companies and see if someone will give up that info.
Oh, and this one has the larger sway bars as well as the springs. Not aiming for better handling, just even height.
