Talked to management about price today.
Hell for $70,000 you can by a near loaded 2006 Vette Z06...so if the base price is even within $30k of that DCx will be screwing themselves over.

A general run of the mill Viper starts at around $86,000... I don't think that guy you talked to knows what he's talking about.

Now I'm from Canada, so I converted that price... Here, Convertible SRT-10 Vipers are priced around $125,000CAD. An SRT-8 package 300C or Magnum or Charger starts around $50,000... So a fully loaded brand new 2007 or 2008 CHALLENGER (6.1L HEMI will be the base model) is going to hit the market around $80,000CAD. We already have people putting $10,000CAD down payment to get their name on the list. Sure, for $80,000CAD you could buy a Corvette... So what? The Challenger looks 1000x better, and will be very comparative speed wise...
I guess there's no way to know for sure, until it hits the showrooms... But I'm just letting you know what I've been told.

I was told that when the Challenger comes out, be looking at a price point starting around $70,000 USD.

I think the whole point is that DCX doesn't want to have these cars everywhere you go... I wouldn't think the car nearly as cool, if I saw them as often as I see a Rustang... The high pricetag will scare off buyers who aren't serious...
But as I said, only time will tell...

that high of a price tag will scare off everyone who isnt a collector..we dont need another "special car"..we need a car to compete with the mustang...
As far as anything online says, the car will have an MSRP of 28-30k USD with a 6 cylinder, and 34-36k USD with the HEMI. I called to of the local dodge dealerships and they both unofficially comfirmed this. I have a call in to Steve Sharples with the SRT group to get a better answer on this. If it turns out to be 70K USD......someone has hit their head, especially since the CNN report says DCX plans to sell 60,000 to 70,000 Challengers a year. That report can be found on CNN.com.auto

I agree......i think it would be better for DC and us mopar nuts to have a Challenger RT (HEMI) priced competatively with the mustang GT ($30,000ish loaded), NOT have it priced at 10k higher or more, and certainly not $70,000 dollars, if so, DC can lick me where i pee on that price tag. So what if there are more challengers on the road with the lower price tag then, that just increases the chances of somebody raceing a mustang or chebby in one and putting whoever is driveing one of those POS's in their place. If DC wants this to work, they gotta price them reasonably and competatively.
