Default Is there Going to be An aftermarket for the Challenger

So what's the aftermarket of the Challenger going to look like? Right now I have an 02 Trans Am WS6 that I love having an LS1 in. It has great power and can still get me 30mpg in the highway and has awesome aftermarket. There are a lotof 10 and 11 sec daily driven street F-Bodies out there. But the interior quality and ride of the F-Bodies are getting pretty outdated so I was thinking of getting a new camaro or Challenger when they come out, I like the looks and interior of the Challenger over the Camaro but if they put in an LS2 or come out with a new LSX series motor for that car thats gonna be tough to turn down since LSX series motors have always been very stout and respond very well to mods, just like my LS1. But I guess what I am asking is what kind of aftermarket is there gonna be for the 6.1 HEMI or whatever they decide to put in it. I am not going to go very crazy just full exhaust and a streetable cam and a nice tune. Thats if the 6.1's respond well to mods. I know with an LS1 you can have close to 500rwhp with a nice head and cam package thats tuned right. But anyways sorry for dragging this on so long but let me know whyI should pick the Challenger over the Camaro...I dont want tobe gettin pulled on all the time by these new camaros at stop lights by LS2's and everything....Thanx Ben

if it uses a 6.1 which is most likely since they already have that engine in production for other vehicles (charger, magnum, 300) then all the mods available for those engines will also work on the challenger. im not gonna lie to you though, the new camaros may be faster stock. its supposed to weigh less, and even though im a mopar fan, i have to give it to the LS series, they are great motors, and like you said do respond well to mods. if it were me id definantly buy the challenger because i really dont like the look of the new camaro. im thinking they will both be close performance-wise, and stock vs. stock im sure it would come down to a drivers race, but only time will tell.

Yeah I guess I will have to wait and drive them both to see which one I like more. I just wasnt sure how well the new HEMI engines were responding to mods and everything, cause the LS series engines are very proven engines. is the challenger going to come with a manual transmission option?

There will be exhaust and cams, that is basic stuff.

However, now that they have "fixed" the Viper HP output expect a Dodge vehicle to have the 6.4 Hemi in it soon, at it could debut in the Challenger, which is what I am hoping for. The 6.4 puts out 500HP from the factory.

If I am not mistaken the concept has a 6 speed in it, but we really will not know until production is set and we can order

By the way welcome to the site, another former WS6 owner.

You kidding me? This car is gonna be a hot seller, and if people are taking the time to trick out the Charger and 300, you know they'll be all over aftermarket goodies for this thing.

There will be some support, but I doubt it will rival the LS support or the mustang support. Heck, there was a shop in PA in the low 11's with a mustang shelby gt500 the first month they had it.

the LS series of engines is very popular so they have TONS of aftermarket for those engines, probably more than the hemi right now, but it will only be a matter of time, especially now that they are making more and more vehicles with the 6.1, before they are making tons of aftermarket stuff for the hemi too.
