Which Charger To Buy - Please Help
Hi MOPAR Fans,
I want to buy a new Charger R/T and need help. I am interested in theR/T with the R/T package. HAve any of you tested both ('stock' R/T and R/T option)and which do you recommend/bought? Is the regular R/T a good handling car? Is the R/T package worth the $3000? I am mainly interested in a better handling car, forget the other stuff that comes with the R/T package. And what about the AWD R/T? Any better than the regular R/T? Thanks for your help. I have waited since 1971 to buy a Hemi Charger and I want to be sure I get the right one. Also having a real tought time finding one w/the R/T package, so maybe my decision has already been made for me! Thanks for your help!

The seats are much better in thr R/T with R/T package. I can`t speek for the other but I love my R/T.
Maybe look at a Daytona - I believe they are about the same as the R/T R/T.

I'm not sure about the R/T R/T howevermy wifedid drive an R/T then right after a Daytona (my wife drove them back to back literaly) and she feel in love with the Daytona's performance.....even thoughshedisliked the color at the time. I researched the both and I wanted the Daytona. The main differences between the Daytona and the R/T are:
seats -- much better support
limited production runs -- retro colors and blackout graphics w/ spoiler & chin fin
intake and exhaust -- sounds great and adds 10 more H.P. according to Dodge
larger wheels
Hope this helps... if the R/T R/T is anything close to the Daytona then buy it....that is if you aren't fortunate enough to get a Daytona.

Before I bought mine I thought I did my research. The dealership offerd me the R/T R/T for a difference of $300 dollars. I didn't know what the difference was and the dealership really didn't either. The R/T I bought came with the controls on the steering wheel and minor stuff like that and that is what I wanted. After I bought the R/T, I realized I wanted the R/T R/T. It comes with the spoiler, performance exhaust and 20" wheels. The spoiler alone is $600+ dollar addition to do after the fact. If you can, I'd go with the double R/T, if not go with the Daytona...what the hell right.
I'm in the same position you are, i'm in the market and have been given amazing pricing for all three vehicles (RT, RT w/ R/T, and '06 Daytona). I've heard the R/T package described as SRT-Lite, but I tend to liken it to a Daytona. It seems to be the exact same thing w/o the decals and special color/stitching.
Personally the interior is what sold me, I like it 100 times better than the base RT. The flashy colors of the Daytona don't really appeal to me as it would be my daily driver and in NJ on the highways, the less colorful the better. Don't need tickets raising my insurance any.

My understanding is that the seats and suspension are the same in the R/T and Daytona packages. So choosing between these is a matter of whether you want the bright colors and spoilers. But I'd definitely get at least the R/T package. The upgrades to the seats, suspension, and wheels/tires are easily worth the extra cost if you care about handling.
The suspensionand seats are different depending on the R/T package you get.
The intake and exhaustare alsodifferent but that's really a moot point because most everyone replaces both of those components.
The difference in the suspension isn't great it's just the self leveling Nivomat shocks on the rear. There are a lot of folks that also mod the suspension (springs or coil overs, and sway bars) to get a tighter ride.

hey guy .good choice to start with but the ultimate question is this are you going to be modifying th car the car at all ? or are you going to be ......if your going to be modifying the car save the money get a stock r/t with nothing and mod it to where you want it to be .if you plan on not getting any mods and are gonna be running stock get a daytona get the mango its not as flashy since there are other similar colors out there .if a daytona wont cut it for you .get the r/t package a much better package oh not to forget the 07 have an optional 20 inch wheel .
The 20s are part of the R/T and Daytona packages.
Of course, wheels/tires are the easiest mod at all. The thing you need these packages for is if you want a heavily bolstered seat. I would, but you might not. Seats are hard and expensive to add after the fact, so if you want a sport seat--huge difference from the standard seat--you need one of the packages.

mkaresh hit this on the head. The seats are totally different between the two. The bolstered form fitting seats of the Daytona are nice and not cheap.
