front end rattle?
Anybody else have any problem with front end rattle? Sounds like sway bar bushings or maybe front shocks. "06 Charger with 44K. Just started recently, front brakes are new ( noise before and after new Brakes ) and tires are almost new ( 10K) and have been balanced. Thanks.
Is there anything consistant when you hear the noise? (ie. Does the noise occure when turning or when hitting a bump...)
Some things to try:
1.Jack up each side in front and try to wiggle the tire from side to side lookfor unusual play and listen for the noise. Remember the noisecouldbe causedby several things, strut/sways/tie rod/stearing assembly.
2. While one side is uppull the front tire and check the strut and insure everything is tight.
3. Lastlytake the bracket off each sides swaybar. It's not hard there are three bolts, one for the shield (10mm socket) and two that hold the bracket (13mm socket) slide the bushing over to one side and grease up the bar and slid the bushing back and button her up. This will take 5 minutes per side.
<edit> I'm guessing on those socket sizes, it's been a while since I've pulled them off.

I did my brakes and and had rattle over bumps. I used the anti squel grease they use now. But the factory pads were siliconed to the calipers like glue. So i redid it with silicone. No more rattle. also while i had the car up tested tie rod end on pasenger side . was bad . dealer fixed. couldn't believe i had a bad end at 20k.
My car just developed the rattle at about 15K miles, when I touch the brakes it stops. My first thought was caliper rattle, not serious but an annoyance. Previous thread to this confirms this thought, I am positive that is my problem and is probably yours (except that you say with and without brakes applied). Go down a dirt road and coast then just touch the breaks lightly. On older cars this was a regular problem I believe there was a little clip that went on the pads to prevent the rattle then they came out with a grease or something that did the same thing.
I just had my 2006 Charger Daytona (with 30,000 miles) in to the dealer for the same type of noise. They said it was my lower control arms...I guess the bushings are bad which is what's causing a little rougher ride and an annoying noise (I'm really not mechanically inclined so I hope this makes sense since I can only go by what the dealer says). I thought it was my struts but they said no. The parts are on back order and the dealer said it is a commom problem with the Chargers. All covered under warranty...parts should be in within a week....I'll let you know if it actually fixes the noise.
Mine is in the shop right now for a noise in the front. I've got a friend who works in the car business and yesterday i took him riding and he said it may be the wheel bearrings in the front. I was thinking the struts, but the shop has it right now, so i'll see what tjey say

Interesting jojothetireguy, how many miles on the car?
For a self check (per post #2 above) you canjack her up and wiggle the tire from side to side and you should feel the slop in the bearing if it's gone bad.
