Default Exhaust...JBA, Yeah or Nay!

Need info on JBA exhaust. I picked up JBA shorty headers for almost nothing! Thinking about going with their mid pipes and after cats. It's all SS which is nice I think Flowmasters will fit on JBA mids and I know Magnaflow's will. The JBA's sound good on sound clips and I can get (with what I paid for the headers included) the full JBA system for $1000 total! Really need input on JBA or options to go with their shorty headers.

Thanks,
MERKULES

I have not heardthe JBA Catback but the headers are good. Those headers are stock replacements meaning they will bolt up to the existing cat/midpipes. The JBA midpipes w/hight flow cats are also the samelength as the stock midpipes. Asthe aftermarket JBA items you mentioned (headers and midpipes/cats) are stock length any aftermarketCatback will bolt up to that configuration.

Good luck with your choices!

Merkules,
I've read about exhaust systems at great length, listened to horrible internet sound clips, and from what I read from other forums also, Corsa seems to stand out. Of course, it is the most expensive. JBA is heralded also, but seems to be quite loud, but has two versions. I went with Magnaflow and hated it, although, I ended up with 4" chrome resonators from them and I use stock otherwise. In reading the posts, it seems the older guys like it quieter and the young guys like it loud -- gee, no wonder there!

Unfortuneately, you will almost never know what it'll sound like until the muffler guy is done and fires the beast up -- you'll love it or hate it.

Yes, good luck on your decision!

Def a yay. Althought I have a 300, the JBA is the same for the charger. I have it, love it, cant live without it. The sound is insane, a bit loud for other, but for me its perfect.
Dropping a gear in autostick while coming to a light makes the best sound.

WOW! $1027.34 full JBA system to the door! Headers from ebay $107.49. Mid-pipes $400, and after-cats $469.95 with $49.90 shipping from Highhorseperformance.com. Ordered from Highhorse on wednesday about 11am, they showed up at door on Friday about 2pm. WOW! I'm waiting for a free weekend to install. Will let you know about the install difficulty and sound/ performance!
Thinking about wrapping the headers and maybe the mid-pipes. Anyone have any experience with it?

A lot of folk here will empathize with you after the header install

Recomendations:
Some of the header bolts are hard to get to so follow JBAs advice and jack the engine up, one side at a time. Pulling the heads is also a good way but you need to replace the header bolts that get stretchedwhen torqued to yield.

Did you get some locking headerbolts like "Stage 8", if not it's highly advised.

Alright, I passed on installing the headers. I called JBA, they sent me all the bolts for free! WOW! I called my dealership and was told the following. Midpipes and catbacks are ok with warranty, but the o2 sensors are void. If I install the headers warranty on engine and transmission is void. I just had trans leak so I don't want to give them a way cop out on me! The stock headers are cast iron so it's killing me not to change them. The sound is deep and loud with out being over the top. Tons of compliments. There is a slight drone when mds kicks in at lower rpm's say 1.5 - 2.5. I've been using the auto stick which keeps it from using mds. Been talking to Josh @ Highhoraseperformance.com and they can disable mds.

I'm lovingit so far! The install wasn't too hard, taking out stock was the worst part. Other than that, the bolts from headers to mid-pipes was a little tight but no big deal. JBA's muffler are pretty close to flowmaster 40's. Solid system and SS to boot. Car feels and sounds like it should.

Next is to lower it!

Headers voiding the transmission warranty?!@ [&:]

Good to hear that you like the JBA Catback.

1.5 - 3.5 rpm is the "drone zone", a lot of us have been there done that.
