Default Resonators

Has anyone removed the stockresonators and if so what does the car sound like? I like how quiet the car is but it could use a little meaner sound.

Yes I have done it - do it - you will not regret it. It does give it a lower meaner sound and you will drop about 40 pounds of weight.

Early on I chopped my resos and put on Blastin Bob's 11db tailpipes. Guess I'm to OLD... it was too much drone for me. I took them off to put a Corsa Catback on.

Are the resonators right at the end of the system before the tail pipes? My wife just got an R/T over the weekend and she wants it a little louder. I looked under the car and saw what looked like 2 connected mufflers(like true dual exhaust with 2 pipes) under the center of the car and something that looked almost like a catalytic converter right under the back bumper infront of each tail pipe. Is that how the stock exhaust looks and are the resonators in the rear by the tail pipes?

Here's the infamous image of the undercarriage with labels...

WOW, awesome reply and great feed back. And to see a car with engine back dual exhaust is impressive. Looks like it has an x-pipe under the crossmember in the middle. Any thoughts on just removeing the resonators and the results from that. I'd like it a little louder (not much) but I've heard of a 'drone' noise from changing things on the exhaust. What is the drone ?

Most likely you’ll end up with drone. Early on I chopped my resos and put Blastin Bob’s 11db tailpipes on. It sounded great on the exteriorbut the drone was to much for me.

This drone is a resonance sound that vibrates through the cabin. It sounds like you have a hyped up subwoofer turned on between 15-25K rpm. Over time it drove me crazy... obviously I haven't recovered

how much louder did the exhaust get? and you said you added something in the resonators place, what about just straight tailpipes in place of the resonators?
