Default Got canned

I had the oil gunk buildup on my intake throttle body butterfly and on down throughout the intake. I also pulled the injectors and the outside of the injectors were coated with the same black oil gunk.

Needless to say I cleaned the gunk out and received/installed a Billet Technology (BT) catch can. It goes between the PCV valve andthe intake and traps oil from getting into the intake.

BT's catch can is very cool in that it installs in under 5 minutes and fits perfectly in the engine compartment. Some have installed it w/braded hose instead of the rubber hose and it really looks sick <= upgrading to braded hoses will be a rainy day project on my list.

Wow! I've been out of the loop for a while. Is this a serious thing? OK, that sounds like a stupid question - is it a wide spread problem?

It isn't that big of an issue, there's blow by from the PCV valve to the intake. Those that have cams and such get more buildup; you can just clean it now and then or get a catch can.The quantity of oil isn'tthat much, some people noticed when they first started up in the morning a puff of white smoke from the tail pipe which was a little oilburning off.

I noticed the build up some time ago when I was fiddling with the nitrous switch. To set the switch you take the intake off and hold the flap open with your hand to simulate WOT, that's when I saw black gunk on the inside of the flap. Didn't think that much of it at the time Ijustcleaned it off. Recently Iswapped outto 6.1 injectorsand noticed every stinking one had that same resin "black gunk" on them.

Since then there have been several threads that revealed where that build up ofblack gunkwas coming from.

You can make one of these catch cans for $10-15 with parts from your favorite hardware store or you can shop around and get one specifically made for the LX.

Yes I enteneded it closer to the filter and next is the crank vent and finally the N20 nozzle. I didn't want the N20 spraying on the O2 sensor.
