Default Transmission disengaged????

I have a question regarding a problem I experienced with my 2006 Charger Daytona. Yesterday I wasaccelerating down an on ramp, when without warning the transmission disengaged! The engine revved up and down several times, but none of the power was going to the back wheels. I shifted into neutral as I was coasting at about 50 mph, and then back into drive and the transmission reengaged. It drove fine after that! When I got home, I decided to check the transmission fluid level but it would appear that the transmission is a sealed unit, because where the dipstick would go is a plug that says for dodge service use only. Has anyone out there had a similar experience, and if so were you able to get it resolved?

Welcome mjcolemo.

I haven't experienced that yet but can relate with the "where's the dipstick for the tranny?". I still haven't heard of a good reason for DCX not to install one.

There is no dipstick because Mercedes does not use one in their cars... You cant get one either so far. They check it electronicly. I wonder if the Superchips can tell you with some of the programs it carries?

There is a dip stick, only the dealer has it because you have the nag1 transmission. which is mercedestrans. You maybe low on fluid. Ck under the car at the trans pan see if you trans fluid leaking. Its commond for the adapter housing to leak. If you still have warranty coverage get it to the dealer.

I thought there was a "dealer dipstick" no pun intended. I've heard of some folks making their own.

There is a TSB on an O-ring on the transmition that starts to leak. Like Tech saib - if you have warrenty left get it to thedealer and be sure to tell them everything and to check the O-ring everyone is talking about. Otherwise they might try and stick it to you, if they are THAT kind of dealership. Not all are!!
Check in the RECALL AND TSB section of the forums.

Welcome to the forums.

I had the exact same thing happen last week..... exactly as you described it. The one other thing that happened is that the check engine light came on at that moment. The next day I had the oil changed since it was due and the light went off.

I've been driving it for about 400 miles since and no repeat of the incident
