New Charger or New GTO?
That is a great article DevilsReject, however it reads like it was writtem before GM recently announced it was cancelling that platform (Zeta?) and the only car that would make it out was the GTO as a restyled 2008 model year car. For more info on this see the autos section at cnn. Gm is in a world of hurt... I would LOVE to see a new Camaro because the current GTO is a joke, but I don't know if we will, and I really don't know what is going to become of GM, the only part of their business that is making money is their financing division (gm card).
Yeah i had read that article. Apparently, there is talk of using the GTO frame to build the Camaro on. There's also been a lot of talk of it maybe even reappearing as a FWD vehicle. If the performance is there, I don't care whether its FWD or RWD.
In a percect new muscle car world we would have the Camaro, Mustang and Challenger - and on the second tier the Impalla SS (like the 1994-1996 model) the current Charger and Maybe a muscular Ford sedan.
Correct. These photoshops are cool but they should be taken with a grain of salt. The rumor that the challenger is coming back on the LX platform is being reported all over now, and I really hope it happens.
BadStrat: Road & Track has a picture in their magazine for this month of an almost identical concept. It's slightly different, but I couldnt get the picture. I got that Challenger Concept picture from here

DevilsReject - If you would have read the article, you would see, it's just a photoshop and that person posted here. It has no connection with DaimlerChrysler. Even R&T's concept has no connnection.
Also, the Camaro is not happening............... the Camaro is not happening.
Challenger is more likely..........
Autoblog Challenger Article
I wasn’t too sure about the copyright laws concerning the artist’s rendering of the Challenger in R&T, so rather than reproduce it here and get sued I pulled a photoshop job by Doug Schramm off of Autospies instead. I actually like this rendering better than R&T’s, even though it’s oozing retro from every orifice.

Yeah the challenger rumors are getting off of the internet and into the major publications now. Latest is a 2009/2010 model based on the LX platform (as it will exist in 2009 or whatever) with a concept showing this coming January in detroit! I can't wait!!!
And yes, the rebirth of the Camaro is dead and it is a shame, GM deserves whatever hole it is digging for itself right now.

I believe I read that the Challenger will be based on a future LY platform. I assume this is what the LX will transform into in the next few years. It might also be a brethen platform to the LX with a shorter wheel base (since a 2-door does not need a 120" wheel base).
As for the the concept coming. Please do not fall into the same "trap" that happen with the '99 Charger. Its going to be a concept and the production Challenger may or may not look anything close to it.
