Dodge Charger The Dodge Charger. The car that made its competitors shiver in the 60's is reborn in 2006 into a sleek sedan that can still send the competition home wimpering, the Dodge Charger.

interesting...

i think they are interesting simply because of the speed, and increased power potential....they have gotten POOR reviews from everywhere....especially in the handling department.

i have not driven one yet because i have a tendancy to impulse buy.

I would have to go with the charger. I went and test drove the GTO and while it was a cool car, it was too small for me. I am a big guy and I didn't feel comfortable in the GTO. I haven't been in the new charger yet but I have looked at one and it appears to be noticeably larger.

Just my two cents.

As big a Dodge fan as I am, I would have to go with the GTO(if forced to buy a car!) The GTO has 2 doors, more aerodynamic and 50-60 more HP depending on the model charger you choose. After building and pricing an SRT8, to only get 25 more HP than the GTO makes me sick. I can take the extra 12000.00 and make the GTO way better. Did I mention weight and transmission? Chrysler people better get on the ball. And when will Chrysler come out and Officially say they hear the 2 door people and let us know the possibility of getting one and when. It is gonna take alot more from Chrysler to part with my Ram and get a car.

I've driven both of these cars, and both of them arent worth the money you're forking out. That said, if I MUST choose between these two, it would be the GTO for a few simple reasons. One, the GTO engine isnt used in several cars. It's the freakin vette engine for cryin out loud. Chrysler has put that same Hemi engine in like every model car/truck they can fit it into. Two, the GTO is a base package. You dont get to choose between 6 different models and options. I liked the old Chargers and would kill to have a General Lee in a minute. You simply cant compare a 4 door SEDAN to a coupe. Three, you cant even buy the best model Charger for the same price as the GTO. Four, even though I like Dodge better then Pontiac, you can't compare the two cars. If you're buying a 2 dr sports car, you're not worrying about moving stuff around in it. You don't buy a Porsche to haul golf clubs or move in. You buy it because you want a sports car. The Charger is flat out NOT a sports car. Having said that, the Charger was okay to drive but it still is nothing more then a Chrysler 300 with a Hemi, and I can get a 300 with the Hemi, so what's the point? On a final note, while the GTO does take a lot of styling from the Grand Am's and Grand Prix's.....it is a stand alone car. The Charger is simply a Chrysler 300 with a Dodge logo, a Dodge Magnum without the station wagon.

Oh, and to add one last thing, they really blew it when they didnt put out a 2 door Charger. I would have bought the 99 concept in a second. At LEAST it looked like a sports car. Personally, I still would prefer it over these two cars.

Well, I can tell you it may be way too late by then. Chevy is going to bring back the Camaro before that Challenger sees daylight. If this is what it looks like, I'm trading my Stratus in in a split second. Mind you, these are artist renditions, but according to an inside source, they are pretty damn close. I dont like the lil line flares but I'd still rather have it then anything else. I love the RETRO look!!!!
