New Charger or New GTO?
ORIGINAL: MG42pillbox
Well some are far from reality, this one guy says "In order to get me in a charger you would have to offer a 2dr, M6, and try and come close in interior quality." What an idiot.... Seriously, Interior quality from GM cars that are not caddys?? BAAHAHAHAA...
Anyway though, they dont seem to bad overall, I just see a whole lotta underrating the LX platforms, Do any of these guys realize they are comparing a sport 2 door foundation to a 4 door sedan foundation... Maybe if we dropped 600lbs and added a 6 speed there would not be no contest. But now-adays everyone compares apples to oranges so it doesn’t matter.

As to apples to oranges... a lot of people cross shop these cars. I know which way I am leaning, but it has more to do with payment plans and aftermarket support than anything else.
I understand your point of view, but besides the amount of interior room in the LXs which is far beyond the GTO, and the fact that it weight 600lbs more.... Are what prevent these cars from being in the same class. Some people might compare the too, but many why want a GTO would never want a LX and even more people who want LXs will not want a GTO. Until the Challenger or Cuda comes out, Chrysler will have nothing for this class
ORIGINAL: SRT MAGNUM
I would take a Charger SRT-8 for sure over the GTO. I agree it does look to much like...actually a Grand Am with a body kit. The back seat should be the same as the MAGNUM since the entire inside IS the Magnum. That front end is mean looking which is nice.

Charger
In 1995 who whould have predicted there would so many good choices Charger/GTO/Mustang from the Big Three in this category. We should hope they all do well, the competition will force the companies to keep improving the one you choose.

I finally read this thread and I want to straighten out something.
MG42pillbox was claming a high 12 second 1/4 mile for the 300 srt-8. I find it hard to believe that a 300 with the same motor and transmission is going to run a full second faster than the Magnum SRT8. The Magnum SRT8 is advertised with a high 13 second 1/4 mile time, so is the charger.
Did anyone else catch this? That’s and outlandish clam without proof.
Any 300 SRT-8 owners out there?

most of what he says is outlandish and without proof...hes a car salesman...get used to it...
hes stuck on the whole conspiracy theory..that every car actually puts out like 100 more HP than advertised, and runs AT LEAST a second faster...
300C SRT-8 reviews:
autoweek..."13.2 in the 1/4 mile with 2.98:1 gearing.."
car and driver..."Standing 1/4-mile: 13.2 sec @ 109 mph Top speed (redline limited): 173 mph"
motor trend.."Road Test: 2005 Cadillac CTS-v vs. 2005 Chrysler 300C SRT8 vs. 2005 Pontiac GTO"=13.2 @ 108.1
and for some non professional times...
only srt-8 drag times record thus far
Ive driven one on an autocross course...and while it sh**s and gets...and handles AMAZINGLY well..it just isnt as fast as my 12.6 mirada...i could tell when driving it, and the tests show it.

MOPAR OR NO CAR! that's all there is to it. Oh yeah and this little ditty from a t-shirt a Ford loving Ex-girlfriend of mine bought for me at Hot August nights in 1990...For the Heartburn of America, I spell relief M.O.P.A.R. Not even a contest in my book. Hemi performance, way better looking and I don't even care for the "06 Charger all that much. It's nice, but the 1999 Show car would have been better still to run with design wise.
