Default Im new and just wanted to say hi

I am new to this and am hoping for some help.

I have a 2006 charger and it is having some problems.

I went to take the kids to school and could not get it out of park and was completely out of oil and I have no leaks.

Anyone else with this type of problem?

I love my car but it has been a rough 1 1/2 years with problems.

Thanks

First off welcome to the forum cbcbterry.

There are two probable answers more than likely it’s the second.

First there is a hidden switch to the right of the shifter that allows you to take the car out of park (if it was being towed or for some other reasons).

Second there several plastic shift linkages on the transmission. One in particular has an eyelet that a return spring attaches to. Most likely that eyelet for the return spring has broken.

I've seen threads on this issue on other forums, I'll do some searching and will post up more info or will PM you a link to other forum threads.

Here's a couple pics of a person with the same issue. (PM sent with link to other forum)

On the oil issue, I assume that was engine oil... am I correct?

Sorry ... it is the engine oil and this is the second time it has happened and I have no leaks they keep telling me I am burning it off

the transmission stuff... I saw there was a recall on the power train: automatic transmission and the dealership this doesn't applie to my car

thank you for all your help and if my husband was around I would make him try to find out what is wrong but I am in CA and he is in WY

Thanks again

There was a technical service bulliten (TSB) on the v6 transmission, it doesn't apply to any R/T, Daytona or SRT8.

How often do you change oil? Do you see colored smoke from the exhaust? What color is the inside of the tailpipe?
